What do our ratings mean?
Our ratings are based on an in-depth evaluation of each church.
When a church or pastor provides the information directly, we evaluate their responses. Otherwise, we review the church’s website, stated beliefs, and up to its 100 most recent sermons to determine what the church actually teaches.
We then send the church our findings and give its leadership an opportunity to correct the record if we have misunderstood or missed something.

Why These Distinctions Matter
A: Biblically Sound, Culturally Aware & Legislatively Active
MyChurchFinder recommends only attending A churches.
A Biblically based church that is culturally aware with a Biblical worldview and is active in legislation but non-socialistic will, in addition to everything described for B and C churches below, be involved with educating the church and be involved with all legislative matters concerning Morality, Family, Sexuality, Marriage, Life, the freedom to evangelize and the protection of Life, Liberty and Property. It will recognize that the Church is the conscience of the government and take that calling seriously. It will understand the legislative responsibilities given to the Church in Exodus 18 and teach God’s plan for government. It will fight for moral justice, not “social justice.” It will understand that the government’s role is to protect Unalienable Rights and not to manage the economy or provide charity or free goods and services to citizens. This is because the latter takes by force the fruits of labor from one person and gives it to another, it forcibly violates the Unalienable Right of an individual to do as he wills with the fruits of his own labor. B: Biblically Sound AND Culturally Aware but NOT Legislatively Active
These churches recognize and teach about cultural decline but abdicate the prophetic role of confronting evil in the public square. Biblical prophets confronted both Israel and pagan cultures: Nathan confronted David, Elijah confronted Ahab, John the Baptist confronted Herod, Jonah warned pagan Nineveh, and Daniel confronted Babylon’s rulers. Other prophets condemned surrounding nations for violence, injustice, cruelty, pride, and wickedness.
By refusing to speak and act against evils shaping our laws and culture, these churches allow the culture to degrade, leaving their children and grandchildren increasingly unprotected from a depraved future.
A Biblically based church that is culturally aware with a Biblical Worldview will, in addition to everything described for C churches below, be committed to countering the culture with God’s objective moral truths, teaching regularly on other religions, the Biblical view of Family, Sexuality & Marriage. It will be Pro-life and encourage the congregation to stand boldly for righteousness in the face of the current cultural decay. It will advocate for Biblical values in the arts, entertainment and the marketplace. It will teach Apologetics and a defense of the faith and why Christianity is true vs other religions. It will teach the evils of Marxism, Liberation Theology, Critical Race Theory, DEI, Wokeism, One World Government and any new depravity and corruption that the world will attempt.
C: Biblically Sound
These churches teach sound Biblical doctrine but largely ignore the culture outside their walls. They fail to equip their congregations, especially their youth, to recognize and withstand cultural and moral decline.
As a result, many of their young people are especially vulnerable to abandoning the faith when wooed by a culture whose arguments and values they were never equipped to confront.
A Biblically Sound church is a church that is founded on the teachings of the Bible and uses the Bible as the basis for its beliefs and practices. This means that the church believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it is the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and life and morality.
- It will teach the Bible accurately and consistently. The pastor and other leaders of the church will be able to explain the Bible in a way that is clear and understandable, and the church will be a place where people can grow in their understanding of God’s Word.
- It will have a strong emphasis on evangelism and discipleship. The church will be actively seeking to reach out to people who do not know Christ and to help them grow in their faith. It will teach theology.
- It will have a strong focus on regular prayer, both individually and corporately, as a central part of life. Calling the congregation to express their love for God and to communicate with Him and grow in relationship with Him. It will involve repentance and supplication, asking for wisdom and guidance, and seeking God’s Moral will in all things.
- It will be involved in the community. The church will be a place where people can come together to serve their neighbors and to make a difference in the world.
- It will be a place where people feel loved and accepted.
- It will be a place where people can grow in their faith.
- It will be a place where people can find community and support.
- It will be a place where people can learn how to live out their faith in the real world.
- It will preach the Gospel and regularly call people to accept the Lord, repent and be baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- It will make Disciples of their congregation and train them and instruct them to witness boldly and preach the Gospel
All churches on My Church Finder must at a minimum be Biblically sound to be listed without a “Would Not Recommend” (WNR) rating. Churches that do not fit the “Biblically sound” criteria, regardless of their other stances, automatically earn a WNR rating. Many churches choose to be unlisted and not take the survey rather than earn a WNR rating.
WNR: Would Not Recommend
These churches do not meet our standard for Biblical soundness. Jesus gave some of His harshest warnings about false prophets, false teachers, and those who cause children to stumble.
Churches entrusted with God’s Word and the next generation bear an enormous responsibility not to lead either away from Biblical truth. We highly recommend you do not attend a church with this rating. WNR churches are not shown on the map.
RbR: Requested information but Refused
We contacted this church by email after a visitor or a member asked that they fill out our survey, but they refused. Often this is because someone took a look at our site or the questions and realized that their church would not show up positively. This is probably a good indication that this may not be a church you should attend.
